Thanksgiving weekend comes once a year and indulging is part of healthy man's diet. I'm getting pretty good at enjoying steamed vegetables for dinner but that doesn't mean I should deny my primal urges to gorge myself to exhaustion on such a fantastic annual holiday. The trick is enjoying myself on the holiday but not continuing to gorge myself in between the holidays.
The only thing that comes close to turkey gravy and stuffing is sausage gravy and biscuits. The main reasons why turkey gravy and stuffing trumps sausage gravy is because you're allowed to eat it while drinking wine, it's totally acceptable to have seconds, thirds and as many helpings as you can stand and you're almost expected to pass out while patting your engorged belly. Biscuits and gravy are usually set aside for breakfast and people frown upon you drinking wine before noon and my local diner doesn't like me passing out in exhaustion when I'm done eating.

Give a new meaning to the question, "Is that a banana in your pants or are you just glad to see me?" by saying, "Yes, it is a banana and I'm loaded with good things to eat".
When you're out and about it's not always easy to find healthy food that fits into a man's low fat diet plan and if it's not easy, a fat guy like me won't bother with it and will end up eating fast food. I've learned to take healthy snacks with me that fit into my diet plan instead of being at the mercy of what's available around the town.
My lovely wife was the one that actually taught me that carrying snacks was often better and easier than trying to find something on the road. I remember her packing baggies of freshly cut vegetables for a trip to the airport. Standing in that long security line we were eating these veggies with the low-fat dip she packed instead of spending $6.00 on the worst hot dog known to man that I would have been tasting for the next 8 hours or so.

It's Halloween and you know you're going to eat some candy and that's just not part of a man's healthy diet plan. Even if you don't have kids you're going to a party and there's going to be goodies where ever you go so try to avoid the temptation by slamming your diet plans.
Sure, some people might suggest that you just avoid temptation on Halloween and skip the candy all together. If you don't find yourself craving those sugary morsels of cavity inducing goodness then don't force yourself to swallow the sweets. On the other hand, if you feel the desire it's probably better to give in now and show some restraint then deny yourself today and really go off the deep end later.

Late night snacking can kill a healthy diet because if you're like this fat guy it seems to hit right around bed time. Now snacking late at night isn't always bad buy I tend to crave the stuff I've passed on all day, which usually means I want stuff that's high in fat, carbs and sugar. The pepperoni pizza that I smelled earlier in the day comes to mind. The ice cream I saw some kid eating earlier and if I've been drinking it's greasy stuff like an all you can eat breakfast place.
Obviously it doesn't matter how well you stayed with your healthy diet if you slam down 4 pancakes, 2 eggs, sausage links and maple syrup for dessert. Sure it sounds good but let's try not to become too fat. OK?
You may be getting hungry late at night because you're eating dinner too early. I usually go to sleep around midnight so if I eat dinner at 6:00 I'm going to be hungry before I go to sleep and there's no way around it. I can go 4 hours without getting hungry but much past that I better put some food in belly. the question is what kind of goodies are needed?

Let's face it guys. Football Sunday and healthy dieting just don't seem to go together. Maybe that's why there just aren't many men's dieting plans out there because they know on Sundays we're doomed. If you're like me a typical football Sunday meal consists of wings, nachos and deep fried cheese sticks but that's not going to cut it now that the season takes up about half a year.
What's a guy to do? There are some healthy eating options if you spend a little time thinking about it. At home you can either put together some of the ideas below or even better, get someone else to do it for you.
