Perfect Fried RiceMaking perfect fried rice is simple, fast and a great way to use leftovers.  Making meaty, spicy or vegetable fried rice uses the same technique and amount of time.  Sure some fried rice recipes can be very elaborate like my Thai Cabbage Fried Rice (which is the best some people have ever had) but I also make it with leftovers on a pretty regular basis when I'm in a hurry. 

The first thing you need is rice.  Yesterday's rice is better for frying then today's and the day before that might be even better.  However, you can still use that quick rice in a box or a pouch.  When I do I much prefer the brown rice over the white and once it's made I spread it on a baking sheet and shove it in my freezer for 15 minutes or so.  That way it dries out and gets a little crunchy.  Not good for rice pilaf but good for frying.  I've also been known to skip that part because I just didn't want to wait 15 minutes and no one complained.

Losing Weight vs. Losing FatAre you trying to lose fat or are you trying to lose weight?

This is an important question to ask yourself because you can lose weight by not eating but you'll lose muscle as well.  You can lose fat by gaining weight in the form of muscle.  Personally I'm trying to lose fat and lose weight but I'm going to try and add some muscle because it will help me keep the weight off and let me eat more food.

Right now I'm 5' 10" and almost 200 pounds.  When you hear that you may think of athlete that's muscular, lean and in great physical condition.  Unless that athlete is a darts player, bowler or cricket batsmen, you'd immediately realize that the athlete can be the same height and weight as a fat guy like me but be in excellent physical shape.  The difference is in body fat vs. muscle.

Beef In A Healthy Low Fat DietYou may be surprised but beef can be a very healthy part of a low fat and vitamin packed diet.  It's gotten about reputation lately but that doesn't mean you should ignore this wonderful red meat wonder.

Let's face it.  Guys love beef and most women crave a hunk of juicy beefcake now and then too.  Those grass eating docile bovine beasts really are the royalty of meat and as a species we humans are carnivores and need the vitamins, minerals and amino acids in this tasty hunk of juicy red flesh to make big brains and keep our muscles strong.

Of course when thinking about beef I want to eat a sizzling 16 ounce rib-eye steak that seared on the outside and warm and red on the inside.  Eating 16 ounces of beef probably isn't the most healthy way to enjoy the best.

Are You Ready To Start A Healthy Diet Plan?Are you really ready to lose weight?  I'm not trying to challenge you but there's no point in setting yourself up for failure and maybe you're just making a knee jerk reaction to something that's going to cause you to fail.

Before you start thinking about losing weight and keeping it off you might want to ask yourself, "Is this a good time to change my eating and exercise habits?"  Maybe it is and maybe it's not.  If it's not you might want to weight to get on the scale.  That doesn't mean you should stuff your face and eat like a big fat pig until you're ready to start.   Now is always a good time to change some small things in your life and take better care of yourself.

Lose Weight By Eating More MealsYou may feel more like a tiger when you're hungry but if you eat more like a squirrel you can eat more often, take in more calories and still lose weight.  I know it sounds crazy but but eating 5 or 6 meals and snacks during the day is much healthier for you then just eating two meals even if those two meals are fewer calories.  If you're shaking your head then keep reading the difference between a hunter and a gatherer.

Look guy's, we're hunter gatherers. OK, maybe not right now but our ancestors were and our bodies still treat us that way. From an eating stand point it means that if we eat like a squirrel our bodies treat us like squirrels and if we eat like tigers our bodies treat us like tigers.
