Fast Spicy Ground Beef Chili Recipe

Created by Steve,

Description

There's nothing that beats spicy all beef chili and this recipe is fast, low fat and fits into a heart healthy diet for Football Sunday's.

Ingredients

At a glance
Makes
2 - 4 servings

1 lb lean ground beef
2 T chili powder
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
1 onion
1 bell pepper
1 cup beef or chicken broth
1 12 oz can diced tomatoes drain or tomato puree
Cayenne pepper - as much as you like or any thing else hot that you desire

Toppings
Diced onions
Diced hot chilis
Shredded low fat cheese
Beans of your choice

Optional
Sliced jalapenos or other peppers
Diced carrots, celery, green beans or anything else that sounds good

Methods/steps

  1. Brown the beef over medium high heat with 1 tablespoon of the chili powder, thyme and oregano.  When the meat id brown, drain the grease and set aside in a bowl.
  2. Saute the onions, bell pepper and any other optional veggies.  When they're almost soft stir in the rest of the spices until fragrant.  Add the broth and bring to a boil.  Let it boil for about 3 or 4 minutes to cook down a little bit.
  3. Turn the heat down to medium low, add the tomato and the need back in.  Cook it until you can't stand it any more and dig in.

Additional Tips

This is a very quick chili that's full of flavor but many may not consider it traditional.  It's good, low in fat and will work for quick dinner and sporting events.
